How to Do “Give Me 10″

Give Me 10 is all about moving your own goals along, 10 minutes at a time. It’s all about using those small bits of down time to “advance the ball” on a goal just a little bit…

Why 10 minutes? A few reasons….

  • No matter how much we DON’T want to do something — it’s not fun, we’re scared we won’t do it well — we can bear it for 10 minutes. And by the end of the 10 minutes, we see it wasn’t that bad. Or, maybe it was, but now it’s over.
  • No matter how much we LIKE to do something, we can get away with indulging ourselves guilt-free for at least 10 minutes, can’t we?
  • 10 minutes is manageable — why do we sooner volunteer to bake brownies for the bakesale than spend that time figuring out how we’ll pay for college? Because we KNOW we can get the brownies done in no time and have something to show for it. We know the college planning isn’t that fast nor does it result in a neat and tidy (and delicious) package. So we opt for the one with the immediate sense of satisfaction (and kudos from friends because you always come through in the clutch). But if we break it into bite-size chunks (pardon the pun), we can get the college planning done in the time it takes to bake for 20 bakesales. Added bonus: say “no” to enough bakesales and maybe you’ll be off the volunteer list!
  • 10 minutes doesn’t give you time to overthink it. With 10 minutes, you jump in and give it your best shot.

Are you ready to begin? Let’s go! Get started with focusing on your goals…
